All India Radio (AIR) has been
receiving a deluge of messages cutting across sections of the society for
carrying out programmes in support of rescue, relief and rehabilitation
activities in flood hit Jammu and Kashmir.
Right after the resumption of Radio Kashmir, Srinagar's FM station from
its makeshift studios at Shankaracharya Hills and then of Medium Wave
transmitter at Narbal, it has been airing vital information related with
disaster management and rehabilitation; helpline numbers were also
announced.
Besides, many regular broadcasts including some special audience
programmes have been restored to bring solace to suffering people of flood
ravaged Kashmir.
The programmes were suitably anchored by soothing music to help the
grieving people and bring them out of it eventually.
Even Chief Minister and top ranking officials from various concerned
departments have visited the Radio Kashmir FM Transmitter atop
Shankaracharya Hills to broadcast their special messages.
The high spirited Programme, Engineering and other staff members of Radio
Kashmir, Srinagar have striven tirelessly to uplift the morale of those
marooned in the valley with their broadcasts.
