Cyclone Hudhud made its landfall on 12oct at about 10a.m battering the lives of people of Visakhapatnam and Srikakulam,Vizianagaram. Communication system,power supply were snapped. Trees and electric poles were uprooted due to heavy rain and winds. Due to the initiative of the central forces of NDRM ,NAVY AND army people were shifted to safe places. lossof life was verynominal but efforts are on to restore power and communications.

AIR Visakhapatnam mast was damaged and radar of MET Centre was also damaged due to rain. All mobile phones were mute. Only few BSNL lines are working. Lack of power,drinking water,and essential commodities are reported by common people.Centre promised all the support for relief operations.

All India Radio has been the only means of communication to inform people to alert and provide rescue information. AIR Vijayawada is on air round the clock reaching people through met warning and officials information round the clock to be a true public service broadcaster
