DD to commence news operations from Mandi house soon.

               Doordarshan is likely to commence news operations broadcast from its Mandi House facility within a couple of weeks once its entire production paraphernalia shifts from the Asiad Village centre.

             The shift, which is currently in its last stages, was effected in September 2009 by Minister for Information and Broadcasting Ambika Soni after a surprise visit to Mandi House. She had expressed dissatisfaction at the newsroom facilities lying largely underutilised there.

            Pulling up Mandi House officials, the minister had asked why DD News operations were being run from its Asiad Village facility when crores of rupees had been spent in providing a full fledged newsroom equipped at Mandi House for the purpose.

         She had given time till November 19, 2009 to DD bosses to shift the DD News operations to Mandi House.
