On the mark, get set, and go:
Doordarshan
National
Broadcaster Doordarshan goes the ‘youth way’ with its forthcoming
Commonwealth games 2010 sporting event titled as “on the mark, get set, and
go.” This is a prime time show and Doordarshan is doing its best to promote
it and take it to great heights.
DD is one of the oldest branded
channels that India has had and with the new entrants trying to grab the
TRP’s, DD still holds strong. It is understood that Brands look at these
events as a great opportunity to advertise. But talking about what is DD
looking forward to brands advertising with them on the show, Rahul Mittra,
CEO Brandsmith, and the chief consultant of the programme, answers, “It is a
commission based project, will be packed & filmed by us but I am sure DD is
doing its best and working towards it.”
The budget of the show is not
revealed but it is known to be a heavy budget show as DD is doing it for the
first time ever. The filming and the format of the show will be in an
interesting and entertaining manner. The set up for the programme is fixed
at Jamia University, Delhi and will be filmed there in. It is filmed by a
well known television film maker Vijay Sharma.
“This show is basically about
training the Indian athlete, preparing them for the competition, increasing
the value of sports and also increasing people’s participation through
various training sessions” explained Sharma. It will not only talk about
sports and training but also highlight the culture and monuments of Delhi
which will include the interview format. The teasers have already been shot
and will be released on DD by next week.
“This is going to be a youth oriented
show which will be hosted by Pravesh Rana and we have planned an altogether
different format for it to look it young and different” shared Mittra.
To spice it, the show has
invited people from different genres of professional world like fashion
designer Sanjana Jon, Padamshree awardee Dr Sanjeev Bagai, Pop singer DJ
Narain, Bhaichung Bhutia and many more to make it as interesting and
different as possible. The production team will be coming to Mumbai to shoot
with the famous bad guy of Bollywood Gulshan Grover, talking about his
experiences with Delhi. More than 75 celebrities are expected to accept the
approval for the conduct of the Common wealth games 2010.
The spice will continue to move on with light moments on the show featuring
the mimicry talent of the host Pravesh Rana.
Sharma claims this show to be one of the finest show of DD and hopes it to
be the envy of other sports related shows.
This show also has a unique feature of animation through which they can
predict and forecast the winning and losing player of the competition. On
asking about TRPs that the show will generate Sharma said “The TRP’s that we
expect would be somewhere around 4 to 4+ as it is prime time show”
Well Good Luck to DD for taking a stand to look different and experimenting
something new.
