         Doordarshan Kendra Kohima organises Vibrant Echoes’

 

          “Our culture and tradition needs to preserved with enthusiasm for nurturing its own identity as it is the symbol of every particular tribe while maintaining harmony.” stated Kiyaneilie Peseyie, Speaker of Nagaland Legislative, Assembly while addressing the Folk Music Extravaganza ‘Vibrant Echoes’ organized by Doordarshan Kendra Kohima as part of its Golden Jubilee Celebration at State Academy Hall on Saturday evening as the chief guest . He also urged the youth to zealously guard the rich cultural heritage and identity of Nagas and pointed out that “it is the most significant task on each and everyone of us.”


        The Speaker expressed happiness that the younger generation is now becoming more and more conscious of Naga cultural heritage and its values and stated that the folk music extravaganza is definitely a noble attempt by Doordarshan Kendra Kohima, adding “it has to play a major role for promotion and preservation of socio-cultural activities of the state.”


       The speaker also hoped that “these types of programmes will go a long way in bringing about fraternity and solidarity among the different tribes of Nagaland.” In her address the guest of honour DDG Doordarshan for North East Region, V.Sekhose said that it was a proud moment for Doordarshan Kendra Kohima to be a part to celebrate 50 years of its service to the country”. 


      The Folk Music Extravaganza featured various tribes of Nagaland performing folk songs and dances.
