AIR programmes to be
digitised
With an aim
to preserve rich treasure of archival programmes of the All- India Radio (AIR)
produced in the past 60 years, Prasar Bharati has launched a digitisation
project of archives (South). Memorable performances of some great artists from
south India which are in the analog mode, will be converted into digital mode.
Programmes like devotional music,
harikathas, burrakathas, drama, light music and other programmes produced by the
All-India Radio will be preserved under this project. Apart from speeches of
eminent personalities, vedic recitations, light music, folk music and drama will
also be a part of the digital archives.
Inaugurating the digitisation project here today(25-05-10)
at Hyderabad , Prasar Bharati member (personnal) M Siva Kumar said the public
service broadcaster is aiming at preserving the rich cultural heritage of the
country through digitisation.
