After the success of ‘Green Kerala Express’ which was a unique education centric reality show telecasted in Doordarshan to find the best performing local government bodies of the state, the channel is now in the final stages to kick off the next show on education. The education centric reality show called ‘Haritha Vidyalayam,’ is getting ready for telecast.

             This education centric reality show is aimed to invent and share new learning techniques in education. The projects presented by each educational institution through this platform will be reproduced as documentaries and will be shared with all schools in the state with the help of a digital library. A common web portal will also be there to share and discuss the ideas and opinions of schools. The authorities believe that it will be an asset in the area of developing education and the reality show will get similar response and appreciations from the viewers which the Green Kerala Express got.

            The reality show is a joint venture of the IT@school project of general education department, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan and SIET Kerala. C-DIT will assist the technical team. Kerala Doordarshan and Victers, an education channel from the department of education will telecast the show from November 22nd. The show will be 40 minute long with 75 episodes.

            A total of 127 schools from various districts were short listed for participation, after the inspection of the Haritha vidyalayam team. The shooting will start from tomorrow. The switching on ceremony is at Shiva Theater, Thiruvananthapuram. Educational minister M.A Baby and former educational ministers of the state will participate in the function.

          The best school selected will be awarded a cash prize of Rs.15 lakhs first and second runner ups will get Rs 10 lakh and Rs 5 lakhs respectively. Schools coming in 4th to 10th place will get a cash prize of Rs. 2 lakh each and schools attaining 11 to 114 position will be awarded with ten thousand rupees each.
