The listeners of All India Radio (AIR) in Bathinda, Patiala and Jalandhar will now be able to explore the significance and role of chemistry in their daily lives. A Punjabi radio serial titled Rang Rasayan Vigyan De (Colours of Chemistry) is set to unfold chemistry behind everything right from the ripening of foods to construction of housees and buildings.

           The upcoming episode of the serial will cast the chemistry behind essential oils. The serial will broadcast every Sunday from 10 am to 10.30 am. The serial is an initiative of Ministry of Ministry of Science and Technology. It will involve detailed inputs on a number of subjects from scientists associated with various scientific organisations in India.

           Representative of Bharat Gyan Vigyan Samiti, Dr Pyare Lal said, “Each episode will be based on the inputs of scientists from Council for Scientific Information and Research (CSIR), Central Institute for Medicinal and Aeromatic Plants and various other institutions.”

          The other subjects that will be discussed include preservation of food, kitchen chemistry, drugs from nature and energy chemistry. The programme has been initiated following the culmination of International Year of Chemistry’s celebrations in 2011. The programs are being developed in all Indian languages in different stations.
