Ministry launches "Swasth Bharat" series on DD, AIR |

Health & Family Welfare Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad on 07/04/2012 launched a
health programme titled "Swasth Bharat" that will be telecast through 30
regional centres of Doordarshan and 29 stations of All India Radio
covering 27 states.
In a message on this occasion, Prime
Minister Manmohan Singh said the Government aimed to provide all people
the opportunity of leading a happy life and becoming productive citzens.
"A healthy population is essential for the
development of the country. That is why our government believes that every
citizen should have access to affordable health care. The National Rural
Health Mission started by our government aims to provide health care to
every corner of rural India. Let us together pledge to look after our
health and make full use of the health facilities provided by the
government," he said.
The 30-minute “Swasth
Bharat “ programme will be telecast for five days a week in regional
languages at prime time. The objective of the programme is to empower
citizens with information on health related issues.
An official press release said the
programme was expected to help the Government in developing an efficient
and effective health care delivery system by creating demand from the
public for better health care services.
The Ministry of Health and Family
Welfare is the first Ministry to have signed a memorandum of understanding
with Prasar Bharati to start such an outreach programme to be able to
reach out to a wider spectrum of population through mass media, the
release added.
