Launches Android App for News Service & YouTube Channel for Network

India’s public sector broadcaster Prasar Bharati’s radio network, All
India Radio (AIR) launched an Android app for its news service and YouTube
channel for the network.
AIR will also start live streaming
its Urdu Service as well as it music service platform, FM Gold on
YouTube.The app that requires basic 2.2 android versions has just 500 plus
downloads since its launch on Google Playstore. The user rating of the app
is 4.7 as per the 71 reviews it has got.
The app provides users to read
and even to all national and regional language bulletins. The audio news
service is available in all languages in which bulletins are broadcast –
Hindi, Bengali, Marathi, Punjabi, Nepali, Assamese, Malayalam and more.
Other special interest programmes are also available like Spotlight,
Market Mantra, Sports Scan and Samayiki.
The union Information and
Broadcasting (I & B) minister Manish Tewari said, ‘The integration with
mobile applications would address the communication needs of the youth and
the audience that followed new technologies. The minister complimented AIR
for developing special news based programmes through the Android
Applications.’
The live streaming
of AIR Urdu service and FM Gold these two channels will be available on
the AIR website.
The YouTube channel of AIR will
initially carry the clips from AIR archives and it will eventually become
a full-fledged portal for the entire network.
