DDK
Srinagar to provide subject - wise counseling for KAS -mains
After benefiting thousands of aspirants
who qualified the KAS prelims 2009, Doordarshan Kendra (DDK) Srinagar has
decided to provide subject-wise counseling for mains examination and shift
the focus on optional subjects in its live phone-in- programme ‘Sitaroon
Sey Aagey.’
According to the officials
of the Kendra, the counseling series which is in the fourth phase now shall
feature special interactive sessions with the experts during which all the
optional subjects provided by the Public Service Commission (PSC) would be
deliberated subject wise during each episode of the live phone-in-
programme.
“In order to
encourage youth to choose administrative services as a career option we had
started a series highlighting the pros and cons of the competitive exams
with major focus on the KAS-2009 during our live phone-in- programme
Sitaroon Sey Aagey. Since the programme received great response from the
viewers during the prelims, therefore we decided to continue it for the
mains as well,” said Producer /Director of the programme Nazir Nazar.
“However,” he added
“the focus will be now on optional subjects and during each episode one or
two optional subjects will be discussed to make the programme more specific
and beneficial for the aspirants.”
Quoting several letters and
e-mails received by the Kendra from viewers/KAS aspirants, Nazar said,
"The need for subject-wise counseling was felt after we received an
overwhelming response from our viewers/aspirants who have already qualified
the prelims examination .Majority of them had suggested that keeping in view
the duration of the programme and the vast syllabus of the optional subjects
each subject deserves to be discussed on a separate day following which we
changed the modus operandi and started subject-wise counseling.”
According to reports under the
new scheme of things so far one episode has been telecast last week on
October 18 during which two optional subjects Sociology and Public
administration were discussed exclusively and the phone-in- interaction was
live between the aspirants and the experts.
“In order to provide a
holistic view of each subject we have decided that besides the subject
expert the panel would also include a KAS officer who had chosen the same
subject during his exam as one of the optional that would be under
discussion,” said Nazar.
“This,” he added “will help the aspirants to
identify the areas that need to be strengthened in a particular subject and
remove the apprehensions and fear thereby focusing on their selected
optional only and filtering out the irrelevant information." |
