DD
centre in Goa: Demands Goa C.M
Chief
minister of Goa Mr. Digambar Kamat on 05-11-2009 urged the Union government to establish a
full fledged centre of Doordarshan in Goa and upgrade the present programme
generating centre, in order to project the unique cultural heritage and
development in social and economic sector.
Speaking at the 27th conference of state and union territory ministers of
information and cinematography at New Delhi, Kamat said that TV centre should
also have an independent news unit to telecast daily news bulletins Konkani, the
local language. The conference was presided over by Union minister of
information and broadcasting Ambika Soni.
Kamat mentioned that Goa is emerging as a fast developing entertainment hub and
had successfully organized the recently held International Film Festival of
India. The state also has a film financing scheme under which 50% of the total
cost of production is extended to registered film producers to encourage film
production in the state language, the chief minister pointed out. "Besides,
shooting of films has been streamlined creating a single-window system for
permission of shooting, and revenue earned is passed on to local self government
bodies," he stated. Soni said Goa's demands will be seriously looked into.
