                              Prasar Bharati Chairman's resignation accepted.

18 Dec2009

Government today  (18-12-2009) accepted the resignation of Prasar Bharati Chairman Arun   Bhatnagar, who had resigned in May because he was "dissatisfied" with the functioning of the Board.

Bhatnagar, a retired IAS officer who had taken over as chairman of the public broadcaster in May 2008, had tendered his resignation in May close on the heels of the UPA returning to power for a second term.

His resignation, which was sent to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, has been accepted by the government, official sources said.

Bhatnagar had resigned amid tussle between Prasar Bharati CEO B S Lalli and board members. However when it was not accepted by the government, Bhatnagar had even been attending the meetings of Prasar Bharati board on a regular basis.
